Roquebrune-Cap-Martin

Contacted Tim when changing trains at Nice Ville. Worked out he was on the same train as us going to Roquebrune, but in end carriage. Met at Monaco-Monte Carlo station. Fantastic and what a 'travel' place to see him. Exquisite coastal landscape as train hugged the coast.
No transport at station, and Taxi phone buggered. Finally got number and rang. Thankfully, as walk up would have ben dreadful. Got to Les Deux Frères' (the Two Brothers) in Roquebrune Village magnificent view form our room. Amazing hillside location with views to Monaco and over Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. Must be the best place we have stayed in and half the price of Martin Place Westin.
Walked around the Roquebrune Cap Martin Castle from 10th century as a fortress. Very interesting and context of being in this 'Vieux Village" with so much history.
Walked to Menton via the ancient paths that joined these villages. Most of it still exists and some has been re-done. Got lost so ended up on roadsides. Had lunch together at seaside café - ice creams and beer and rose. Walked along promenade, visited a toilet Nazi (only 0.5E). Got Liam an Olympic Lyon shirt that he was after.
