Ferry to islands, Warned that it would be a bit bumpy. Behind breakwall in harbour smooth as - get out in middle - rough as buggery. Roller coaster. Old Port, to Frioul Islands. Get to island - smooth as. But have to get back! Went past Chateau D'If. Great trip worth the 10E. Wind was howling, not a cloud in sky and warm Mistral?
Bus to Sacre Coeur. Very nice cathedral and great view of city. Bus down and found Abbaye de Saint Victor. Able to visit the underground crypt as well as old church built over by modern cathedral. Very old.
Bus trip for 1E out to rural countryside of Aix. Very nice. Got to Pertuis (trains were not running otherwise would have caught train.) Walked 1kn to main town. Centre Ville et Centre Ancien (Old centre with town ville). Tourisme office open!!!! Got a map for a local walk around 1,000 you streets. Close up views in lanes and alleys. Great.
Bus to La-Roque-D'Antheron. Got there on siesta time so nothing open, but one little café. Had an ordinary lunch, walked up town past the church, then to bus stop and waited for next bus out of town. Very good view of hills from the town. Bus went via Rognes to Aix.
To Musee Garnet with our Aix City Pass. One of the best regional galleries and museums in France. Alechinsky exhibition. It was. Then dinner at Face to Face. Excellent food and meet couple from Ohio/Minnesota/Texas?? The waiter was great. Got advice from Adagio staff where to find sports store (to get soccer shirts) which was at "Pole Activities".
